ILMOS OBJECTIVES

• To help design an Insulator Maintenance System based on a real measurement of the leakage current, focused to help the decision of washing. "When to wash the insulators".
  
  
• To eliminate transmission line shutdowns due to pollution. The ILMOS Alarm will trigger the decision to wash on time.
  
  
• Definition of the worst points of pollution and the critical location areas.
  
  
• To help the selection of insulator manufacturers, insulator materials and insulators shape, based on real performance under contamination.
  
  
• To compare performance between different insulator technologies based on their real operation evaluated by ILMOS.
  
  
• Measuring the power loss in kWH for every timeslot defined in hours for the insulator, to help calculate the power consumption in dollars per year.
